"One thing that I like most about the postgraduate study in Department of Fare is that its focus on the consultation concerning the program study. Each of us meet individually with Graduate Study Committee every semester to discuss course selection, plan of research and feel free to ask any questions. In this way I feel like we are the master of my PHD study with instant available assistance." - Na Li, PhD Student "I have chosen to come to the University of Guelph, Department of Food, Agricultural and Resource Economics (FARE) for a few reasons. The first thing I noticed was the many ongoing projects with government departments and organizations. I wanted a strong applied and practical economics program. FARE seemed to be the one that carries out the most practical projects that applies theory to real life cases. It also has very knowledgeable and more importantly approachable faculty." - Anas Ramadan "I chose to attend the University of Guelph because of the excellence and diversity of professors in the department. The F.A.R.E department has an excellent reputation with industry across Canada." - James Bryan "I chose to do the MSc program because of the variety of opportunities that the student can explore in the department. The breadth of experience that each of the professors brings creates a great learning environment where I feel like I am pushed to reach my full potential." - Nick Bennett, MSc Student "I chose to pursue a master's degree at the University of Guelph because of its strong reputation in the Canadian Agriculture sector. I expect that the high calibre learning and thesis experience will provide many career opportunities upon graduation for me" - Jacob Kerkhoff, MSc. Student "I chose Guelph because it is a great place to study and live. The diversity of research among the Faculty in the the Department enables students to pursue their interests." - Andre Bates, MSc Student "I had a great experience completing my undergraduate degree at UoG so I chose to continue into graduate studies here to make more real world connections through this top-quality program." - Chris Zhou, MSc Student "My decision to study at the Food, Agriculture, and Resource Economics department was based on three aspects. First, the University of Guelph is super famous in the Middle East, my favourite instructor in Saudi Arabia advised me to register in the University of Guelph, and the department of F.A.R.E has been supporting valuable projects." - Hamad Alhamad, MSc Student "My time at Guelph has been invaluable. The PhD program in particluar has provided me with knowledge and understanding that has changed my life by changing my view of the world enabling me to have a positive impact on the lives of those around me." -Mark Wagner, PhD Student "One aspect of the department that I really enjoyed was the collegial relationship between students, staff and faculty. It created an environment where students were not afraid to ask questions and to seek the help of other members of the department, who were always more than willing to help." - Amanda Lewis "Guelph is a great school with a beautiful, open, but self-contained, campus. That aside, the main reason that I choose to attend Guelph was the excellent quality of the highly qualified and accessible faculty in the Department of Food, Agricultural and Resource Economics. In our department, I feel much more like a colleague than a student, and this has greatly improved my personal and academic development." - Aaron, PhD Candidate |
